SAPP CUPERTINO

Students Against Period Poverty is a nonprofit organization that strives to make period products and period poverty education readily available and accessible to all.

What is Period Poverty?

Period poverty refers to a lack of access to menstrual supplies such as tampons or pads, usually due to financial inability. Inadequate access to essential hygiene facilities and products is included in this definition.

What is the impact of Period Poverty?

500 million women around the world experience period poverty each month, with 42 million of those women living in the U.S.. Without the proper menstrual or basic hygiene products available, these women are forced to stay at home and miss a week's worth education or work, putting them behind everyone else. Or these women are forced to use unhygienic alternatives that result in various health ramifications.

Here are a few helpful articles regarding the issue:

Project: RED BOX is the main service opportunity we provide volunteers. Through the program, volunteers help assemble care packages remotely. Care package supplies are collected bi-monthly and donated to women's shelters. Specific collection dates can be found on our social media. More information about the program can be found below!

Helping Hands From Home is a joint donation drive with Lincoln NHS. The project's main goal is to counter homelessness. All items collected are donated to HomeFirst. Our first collection day has already passed, taking place on March 27. Future plans or this project are soon TBA.
